Margaret Commodore, Diane Janzen and Kelli Paddon will be our 3 panelists. Each of these ladies has experience in politics. Our moderator, DJ Pohl will unpack the following topics with this amazing group.

- How do we encourage more women to get involved
- What does the process look like? (How to get involved)
- What is the time commitment?
- What are the hold backs?
- With the upcoming election- we want to discuss municipal Issues and what each of you see as key focuses and topics and her your perspective
A little more on our panelists:
Margaret Commodore
Margaret Muriel Commodore (aka Margaret Joe) is a Canadian politician. She represented the electoral district of Whitehorse North Centre in the Yukon Legislative Assembly from 1982-1992 and the Whitehorse Centre from 1992-1996. She was a member of the Yukon New Democratic Party.
She has experience as the Minister of Health and Human Resources from 1986 to 1989 and the first Aboriginal Minister of Justice in Canada from 1989 to 1992. She was also the first-ever First Nations woman to ever be named to a cabinet in Canada in 1985.
Commodore is a member of the Sto:lo Nation
Diane Janzen
Diane is the current Executive Director of Chilliwack Community Services, as well as a past City Councillor and most recently represented Chilliwack as a Conservative in the last Provincial Election. She has served as a School Trustee and Chair of the Board of Education and as a City Councillor with the City of Chilliwack. While at the City of Chilliwack, Diane was Chair of the Social Issues Committee and worked with a dedicated committee of community organizations to establish the Health Contact Centre, a centre which addresses homelessness through housing, health and other support services.
Kelli Paddon
Kelli Paddon was elected MLA for Chilliwack-Kent in the 2020 provincial election. She serves as chair of the Select Standing Committee on Children and Youth.
Kelli is passionate about building a diverse and inclusive community where everyone is accepted and respected, and she is committed to amplifying the voices of those she serves. She has a Masters of Interdisciplinary Studies with a dual focus on Equity and Work, Organization, & Leadership. Recently her research on gender and COVID in the BC Legislature was published in the Canadian Parliamentary Review Journal further adding to the discussion on gender in politics.
