Join us for an insightful and timely session with Trevor Koot, Chief Executive Officer of the BC Real Estate Association (BCrea), as we explore one of the most talked-about and often misunderstood areas impacting real estate in British Columbia.

In this session, Trevor will unpack recent developments including the Cowichan decision and Musqueam Agreement, offering practical context to help you better understand what’s changing - and what isn’t.

Rather than taking a fixed position, this conversation is designed to build clarity and confidence, especially when it comes to navigating client conversations in an evolving landscape.

You’ll gain a deeper understanding of how complexity, history, and legal frameworks shape the current environment, while also reinforcing the continued strength of core property systems in BC.

This includes the role of land title and financing structures, and why trust in these systems remains critical.

The session will also touch on guidance from the BC Financial Services Authority and place BC’s current situation within a broader national context, referencing developments such as the Wolastoqey and Gitxaala cases.

Trevor Koot is the Chief Executive Officer of the BC Real Estate Association (BCREA). With a background in real estate and governance, he is a recognized voice on housing policy, property rights, and regulatory reform in Canada. Trevor regularly contributes thought leadership on the evolving real estate landscape and is a sought-after speaker on system-level issues impacting housing. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Royal Roads University and a Master of Laws from York University. Trevor has been recognized as one of the most influential business leaders in BC by Business in Vancouver magazine and was also named one of Canada’s most influential leaders in real estate by Buzz Digital Magazine in 2025.
